The fifth season of Friday Night Lights recently came on the Netflix instant and I was VERY excited to finally be able to watch the last season of it. The series finale actually brought me to tears, which actually isn't very surprising because I cry in almost everything. Everything fell into place in the end- Coach Taylor and Mrs. Taylor move to Philadelphia so that she can be the Dean of Admissions at a college and finally get to peruse her own career, Vince becomes the quarterback of the Panthers/Lions super team in West Dillon, Tim Riggins gets out of jail and it is foreshadowed that him and Tyra will eventually end up together, Billy is able to get a coaching job with the super team and has twins coming along with Mindy, Becky's mom comes back home and she gets back together with Luke, who joins the army instead of playing football in college, and best of all....JULIE AND MATT SARACEN GET BACK TOGETHER!
They have definitely been my favorite couple throughout the entire show. But mostly because I love Matt. The series finale shows them engaged and living together in Chicago.
Another character I loved was Jess. Coach Taylor grew attached to Jess as she shadowed him learning how to be a head coach. In the series finale she finds out that her father's job will be moving them to Dallas and that she won't be able to shadow Coach Taylor anymore. Coach Taylor makes a call to the Dallas High School football coach so that Jess will also be able to shadow him and continue to learn.
This was an amazing show and I'm sad to see it end. I don't even watch or understand football, but there's something so inspirational about football movies and TV shows...i.e. Remember the Titans.
