trend spotting: pastel pants

Pastel pants have become popular ever since last spring when J. Brand came out with their collection. J. Brand's collection had a large range of colors, including my favorites- light pink, lavender, and turquoise. Though I thought they looked cool, I wasn't sure that I could pull off wearing turquoise pants. I really wanted the light pink ones, but sadly when I tried them on I didn't really like them. I thought they would be a jean material, but they were more stretchy and not very flattering on me.

Red jeans also have become pretty popular recently.  I feel like it might be a pretty short lived trend, but I have to say I kind of like it.

I recently ordered a pair of mint green skinny corduroys from Madewell. I'm pretty excited to get them because I don't really have any other pants besides jeans and they are all variations of blue.

boy advice in magazines

On my way to New York this weekend I picked up a copy of Cosmopolitan. I always think it's funny to see the advice that magazines give to people to deal with boys. I've read magazines since I was 7 years old and sadly, used to take this advice seriously. Luckily, I didn't act on it.

This month's issue of Cosmo had an article about how to decode guy's vague text messages. They said that if a guy sends you a text says, "You around?" that you should respond saying, "Depends...whose asking?"

That's unbelievably creepy. Who would ever write that? Clearly he's asking.

I don't understand why magazines and movies make girls think that they need to be cryptic for guys to like them. Honestly, it probably just makes them think you're weird. I'm not anywhere near an expert with guys, but I'd probably say not to go to magazines for advice.

Nicki Minaj and OPI Collaboration

One thing to look forward to in 2012 is the upcoming Nicki Minaj for OPI collection. The collection includes 6 shades including one new shatter color.

Metallic 4 Life
Haha, a clever name. I'll wait to see this swatched before I pass any real judgements, but in general I'm not a huge fan of metallics.
Fly
I can't wait to see this color in person. Turquoise is my favorite color, but I haven't found a perfect turquoise polish yet. Though I do love Turquoise and Caicos by Essie.

Save Me
This is the color that I am most excited to see! It looks like bottled opal (which is my birthstone) and also like it has little pieces of confetti within it. Kind of also reminds me of 90's spandex in an exercise video....all good associations.
Did It On 'Em
Personally, I think this resembles mucus and or Who The Shrek Are You? from the Shrek Collection. I'll probably be passing on this one.
Super Bass Shatter
I really don't understand all the hoopla about shatter. Yeah, when it came out with Katy Perry it was cool, but now almost every single company makes their own shatter. And to be honest it doesn't really look that good...it looks kind of ghetto. I have the black shatter and have probably used it a total of four times because it doesn't look good with that many colors and just isn't really my style.
Pink Friday
I'm guessing this color will turn out to be the most popular polish of the collection. In the picture above it just looks like a plain barbie pink, but in another picture I've seen it looks much more multidimensional....
Pink Friday
It's hard to believe these are supposed to be the two same nail polishes. This one kind of resembles Teenage Dream from the Katy Perry Collection without the chunky glitter. I'm definitely excited to see what this polish looks like in person. I'm kinda bummed I wasn't one of the lucky people to get Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday MAC lipstick which was only on sale for four fridays and sold out on presale.

If only. Then I would be all Nicki Minaj-ed out.

Gone Gonzo by OPI Swatches

Gone Gonzo is a turquoise mirco glitter with chunky silver glitter dispersed within it. It is from OPI's new Muppets themed holiday collection. I thought I would love this color, but I am kind of disappointed with it.
Sorry for the bad lighting...I'll do better next time promise!
It took me four coats of the polish to get the effect on my nails shown above. I still thought that the color was too sheer for my liking. I also think that from far away it looks pretty similar to Simmer & Shimmer from OPI's Burlesque collection from last year.
OPI's Simmer & Shimmer (not my swatch)

The only difference is that Gone Gonzo is a little bit of a brighter blue and instead of having gold and purple micro glitters added in it has the chunky silver sparkles. I kind of regret purchasing this nail polish since I have one that is so similar to it.

One Tree Hill Season 8 Finale

I started watching One Tree Hill last year because I was bored and was embarrassed at myself for watching something that I thought was going to be really dumb. I quickly became obsessed with it and watched up to season 7 within the last month and a half of senior year because we had no work. Sadly, my friend only gave me his (yes, his) DVD's up to season 7 and I couldn't find season 8 anywhere because I am not tech savvy.

So basically for the past 4 or 5 months I've been left with Quinn and Clay getting shot by Katie and bleeding out at their beach house without knowing if they are going to live or die.
This picture kinda just looks like they're taking a strange nap....but really they've just been shot.
As you can imagine this was pretty terrifying for me. Luckily, season 8 recently came on to Netflix. In the 8th season Haley and Nathan have their second baby, Lydia, Quinn and Clay's relationship heals after Katie's attack, Brooke and Julian get married, Mouth and Millie get back together, and Alex and Mia fight over Chase...for some reason.

The most interesting story for me was Brooke and Julian's. Last season they got engaged and Brooke found out that she was unable to have children. This season Brooke almost drowned while trying to save Jamie when he was trapped in a car during a bad storm. Brooke and Julian get married and then decide to file for adoption. A teenager named Chloe contacts them and decides that when she had their baby that she will give it to them. However, after giving birth to the baby, Chloe's boyfriend comes back and she decides that she wants to keep it after all. A few days later, Brooke finds out that she is pregnant with twins...definitely a tear jerker.
The last episode of the 8th season seemed extremely rushed. I feel like the producers weren't sure that the show was going to get renewed for another season and they wanted to make sure that they left their viewers with a satisfactory ending. The episode basically went through all 9 months of Brooke's pregnancy until a sack of flour fell on her (lol) at Karen's Cafe and she gave birth prematurely.  It shows Brooke and Julian with their two twin sons, Davis and Jude.

Which leads me to ask- what is with Peyton and Brooke naming their babies after their last names? Sawyer Scott and Davis Baker...?

The episode ends with Jamie dribbling a basketball down the bridge like Lucas does in the opening credits which was pretty cute. I can't wait for next season and for Lucas's return!

OPI Holiday Collection

The OPI Holiday Collection is finally out and it's MUPPETS THEMED! Pretty exciting if i do say so myself.

I had to order 'Gone Gonzo!' (which is the turquoise color in the bottom row) because turquoise is my favorite color and Gonzo is pretty cute. I will definitely be posting swatches of it once it gets here.

Another favorite of this collection is 'Rainbow Connection' (color on the bottom row on the left). It seems to be a dupe for Deborah Lippmann's 'Happy Birthday' which I have wanted for a long time, but costs 18 dollars.
(Not my picture/my nails are not this nice)
I've decided to wait until this collection to come out in stores before deciding whether or not to get 'Rainbow Connection' because I want to see it in person. The best part of this collection was most definitely the nail polish names- 'Warm & Fozzie' , 'Fresh Frog of Bel Air', 'Gettin' Miss Piggy With It', and of course my personal favorite 'Meep-Meep-Meep' for Beaker.
